6 Best Date Ideas During COVID-19 by Puerto La Boca San Diego

6 Best Date Ideas During COVID-19

June 01, 2020 in Little Italy

COVID-19 has been difficult for everyone. Being quarantined at home has eliminated many of the things that can bring pleasure and joy, such as going to the movies and grabbing a drink at a restaurant. However, that doesn’t mean that there is no time for romance!

Even now, there are plenty of ways to have a lovely date night with a person you care about, especially in a city as beautiful as San Diego! Below, you can learn more about the 6 best date ideas during COVID-19.

1. Movie Night at the House

Digital on-demand and streaming services allow us to have easy access to a seemingly endless array of movies from the comfort of our home. Not only that, but most new movies that were supposed to have a long theatrical run have been made available to watch at home immediately.

Just because you can’t go out on a date at the movie theater doesn’t mean you can’t have a romantic evening watching a movie at home. Order a new movie that is streaming or available on-demand and get ready for a romantic date night in. All you need is a nice bottle of wine, some candles to create ambiance, and some fun snacks like popcorn or candy. Turn off all of the lights, mute your phones, and get ready for a great night enjoying a fun flick with your significant other.

2. Make a Fancy Meal

If nothing else, COVID-19 has given us the luxury of free time. Usually, nights are full of obligations, errands, and other demands on our time. Now, you have all of the time in the world.

(Well, except for those parents out there. Keep fighting the good fight!)

All of that extra time means that you and your partner can really stretch yourself in the kitchen, trying new and exciting recipes you have previously thrown aside when you saw the expected cooking time clocking in at two to three hours. Put on an apron, play some of your favorite music, and relish the exciting mixture of creativity and precision that comes with cooking a difficult recipe.

3. Take a Walk in a New Neighborhood

San Diego is one of the number one travel destinations on the planet, yet many residents take all of the sights and neighborhoods in America’s Finest City for granted. For your next date, grab a mask to cover your face and drive with your partner to a new neighborhood or site you haven't really had the chance to explore. Take a stroll around Downtown San Diego, Mission Beach, La Jolla, and other enchanting San Diego destinations. Of course, make sure to wear your mask at all times, practice social distancing, and only leave the house if you are not at risk or infected and feel safe and comfortable doing so.

4. Game Night

If you and your partner used to go to bars for trivia nights, then bring game night to your home! There are plenty of apps that offer trivia games you can play with your date, or you can get together a group of couples and play against each other to crown the king of trivia.

Trivia is not the only game you can play at home. Crack open an old board game such as Monopoly or Life, or play a fun new digital game you can find on your smartphone or gaming platform.

5. Living Room Karaoke

Looking to have a more upbeat evening? Then turn things up in your living room with a rousing round of karaoke. A simple YouTube search will show thousands of lyric videos and karaoke versions of popular songs. All you have to do is press play on your laptop or digitally project your screen on a television, make yourself a stiff cocktail, and sing your heart out!

6. Take-Out Argentinian Food and Wine From Puerto La Boca

One of the things that people miss most during the COVID-19 pandemic is going out to enjoy some delicious food and a drink or two. As of now you still can’t eat in a restaurant, but why not bring the restaurant to you? Many restaurants in San Diego are offering comprehensive takeout menus and delivery service, and Puerto La Boca is proud to be one of these restaurants.

Puerto La Boca has a nearly full menu available for takeout, as well as a 50% discount on all Argentinian wine bottles and beer for take-out orders during stay-at-home orders. That way, you can order a delicious meal of empanadas, steak, pasta, chimichurri, and wine, and enjoy it with a loved one at home. Set your table with your finest dishes, light some candles, and put on some Argentinian music to really immerse yourself in a romantic atmosphere.
